Day 5 - Winchester to Medstead

The next morning we're on the move again, and somehow we've got to get all this luggage into the two vehicles.

Leaving Winchester by the water meadows and the Itchen Valley, our first stop is St Mary's, Easton, with this ornate doorway.

then over the the Cricketers for lunch

there were plenty of opportunities to pause and reflect as we followed the river upstream. This is Mike Simons at Chilland.

Our next official stop was St John the Baptist at Itchen Abbas for prayers

There followed a long, unbroken afternoon, through Abbotstone, Old Alresford and Hattingley, to Medstead. The Castle of Comfort (pub) lived up to it's name befoer the final few yards to St Lucy's convent. Our quarters were these classrooms of their nursery school.

But again, some slept outside in the garden!
