The Glastonbury Pilgrimage 1978

Day 10 - Rest Day in Salisbury

Another day off, this time in the historical city of Salisbury. I've no idea how we passed the day, other than that we celebrated Mass in the cathedral.

We were staying in the Catholic Primary School, and after an evening visit to the pub (or was it the club next door) Fr Bob was surprised to find that a totem pole had been relocated onto his bed!

Later that night, though we didn't realise until next morning, half of our boots, arranged inside the doorway, were stolen, never to be traced. Whether out of spite or for their (limited) value, we don't know. But it added an extra penance to the pilgrimage, with people walking in borrowed boots, trainers, whatever they could get hold of. But it didn't stop the pilgrims.
