The Glastonbury Pilgrimage 1978

Day 14 - Castle Cary to Glastonbury

Our last walking day! We visited St John's Priory, in this elegant house, for Mass

Then prayers at St Andrew's, Ansford.

Lunch at the Manor House Inn at Ditcheat was a chance to relax

or to grab a few more photos (some of these slides are George's, I believe)

The afternoon started with prayers at St Mary Magdalene's, Ditcheat.

and continued with prayers at All Saints, East Pennard

As we descended to St Nicholas'. West Pennard, our destination, Glastonbury, was visible ahead of us.

At the foot of the Tor we rested, waiting for the backmarkers

Some reflected how pilgrimage had turned their world upside-down

I'm not sure if we tried to climb the Tor hand in hand, but at the top we made a human chain around the tower and prayed

then looked back over our pilgrimage from it's summit

before descending into Glastonbury. (The descent turned into a gallop for many!)

which brought us to Our Lady's Church and St Louis' Convent. We made it!
