The Buckfast Pilgrimage 1980

Day 13: Sidmouth to Exmouth

We walked down into Sidmouth following the River Sid through the gardens, and then celebrated Mass at the Church of the Most Holy Blood.

Then it was down to the sea front and turn west again"

Before starting our climb towards High Peak (Passing our first red cliffs)

The other side of High Peak is Ladram Bay, a big campsite with its own pub, the three Rocks Inn, where we stopped for lunch (with a view of the Three Rocks).

or to make notes

Back along he cliffs from Ladram Bay to Smallstones Point, with stunning views backwards

Then we turned inland to Otterton and prayed at St Michael's Church

Over the River Otter by the mill, and back alongside the river to the coast again

I SAID ALONGSIDE THE RIVER, NOT IN IT...

We marched through the holidaymakers at Budleigh Salterton

We then followed the coast path via Sandy Bay (a big caravan site, but with a tea shop) ad Orcombe to Exmouth, where we stayed at the Holy Family Convent. Cooking facilities were limited, so we had arranged fro fish and chips, which we ate outside in the setting sun.

What more could you ask for with a view like this as you eat your supper?
