The Buckfast Pilgrimage 1980

Day 6: Romsey to Fordingbridge

I don't think this day started wet - but it would certainly end up that way!

We began our day with Mass at St Joseph's.

And I'm fairly sure there was some puddle jumping (from earlier rain at least) before lunch, at the Green Dragon at Brook.

But certainly by the afternoon the footpaths had turned to rivers.

and the fields to lakes

This brought us to the Church of the Holy Ascension at Hyde, where I think we were revived by tea in their hall.

But we had to venture out again, and as we approached Fordingbridge there were serious floods - we were wading knee deep at times, with no pretence of trying to keep dry. But we eventually reached Fordingbridge Community Centre (the picture's from 1978 - it was obviously too wet to get on record in 1980!)
