The Buckfast Centenary Pilgrimage 1982

Day 2: Midhurst to Horndean

Our day started with early Mass at the local Catholic Church (after which we returned to the convent for breakfast before departing on the day's walk).

Duly fed, we headed west across Midhurst Common...

...and after couple of hours reached St Paul's at Elsted, where we prayed with the vicar.

Nearly another hour to lunch, though, as in 1980 at South Harting.

In that time-honoured tradition, lunch was followed by prayers at the neighbouring church, here St Mary & St Gabriel.

Mid-afternoon prayers at St Michael and All Angel, Chalton - a chance for a sit down!

Then it's out across the fields - cereal crops already harvested here.

On Windmill Hill we found...

Then we dropped down into Blendworth for Holy Communion.

Our day ended at the nearby Blendworth and Horndean Church Centre.

Here we had a little help with the washing up!
