The Lindisfarne Pilgrimage 1984

Day 6: Richmond to Barnard Castle

Our last day in Yorkshire involved much road walking to avoid the army training areas that straddle the direct route. I remember it being "up" out of Richmond, and a fairly long morning to Dalton, where Julian had persuaded the landlord to open the pub specially.

During the afternoon, we had our first encounter with the River Tees as we approached Barnard Castle.

Our leader had his hands full with a baby and 50 pilgrims to look after! At least we have a rest day to recover!
