Liverpool-Carlisle Pilgrimage 2014

Day 2: Liverpool, Blundellsands to Southport

Starting near Antony Gormley's intriguing statues this is a lovely day's walk with no hills, pleasant time along the beach past sand dunes, woods and smart residential areas. We pass several nature reserves including one for red squirrels. Royal Birkdale Golf Course is on our route and is divided by a narrow band of land from another impressive golf course. The second was built by footballers as the Royal Birkdale would not admit them. From here we take a short route through a more built up area to the hall.
