Liverpool-Carlisle Pilgrimage 2014

Day 4: Preston to Churchtown

Discover that it's not all "Grim up North". No whippets or ferrets or satanic mills, just a day of gentle Pilgrimage, through fields, down river paths and along the side of the canal. There is a war memorial in St Walburge's church. The first part of the walk cuts through the centre of Preston and to Ladyewell Shrine, which is a popular pilgrimage site. After the shrine, we walk through the Lancashire farmland descending to Brock Bottom, we follow the River Valley to the A6, whereupon we take the Lancaster Canal into Churchtown.
