Canadian Trains - for Jules

Ten-wheeler No. 1057 (ex-CPR class D-10h; MLW, 1912) leads Toronto-Owen Sound excursion train through farm country near Fraxa, Ontario, Oct. 4, 1975. The locomotive today forms part of the roster of the South Simcoe Railway which operates over part of the former CNR Beeton Sub. between Tottenham and Beeton.

TIC 4-car train of M-1 class subway cars leaves Warden Station June 16, 1968 on the Bloor-Danforth Eastern Extension, opened the previous month. The 36 M-1 cars (5300-5335) were built by Montreal Locomotive Works in 1962. Specifications for this long (75-foot), lightweight, aluminum car were developed by TIC, MLW and Alcan and the design set the standard for future generations of subway cars in Toronto and throughout North America. The last M-1 train was withdrawn in May 1999.

ONR’s inaugural Toronto-North Bay ‘Northlander on June 7, 1977 finds trainset No. 1980 passing under CP’s Belleville Sub in the Don River valley. The equipment is a former Trans-European Express trainset, built by Works­poor, Netherlands in 1957 and refurbished for Canadian use
