THE JOURNEY TO DOVER IN THE STEPS OF ST RICHARD

or Pilgrimage Newsletter No 37, October 1990

A HAPPY PILGRIMAGE

This year's pilgrimage was a happy and peaceful one. No floods, no troubles, and lots of sunny days. The worse that happened was the rain as we walked around Pagham Harbour, and yours truly planning the day out of Dymchurch for the - wrong date! Lots of lovely walking through the Sussex and Kent countryside, and some beautiful seaside days. The only disturbance to the peace and tranquillity of the pilgrimage were a number of violent armed pilgrims who set up frequent ambushes with water pistols. The water attacks were welcome on the hot days! Our aim to get more young people to join us on the pilgrimage was achieved, although some wished we hadn't included the two young rainmakers, known as noodles! There were several delightful interludes like the guided tour of Lewes led by the mayor, and the possibility of swimming in the warm sea after a long day's walk. A lot of fun was had by all. Where could you go to get a holiday more packed with variety?

REUNION AT BATTLE

Gary O'Brien has invited us all to Battle for this year's pilgrimage reunion. Full details are enclosed with this newsletter. I would emphasise that it is not just a reunion for those who walked this summer, but for ALL, past pilgrims. Do come, and do help Gary by sending in your application early

PILGRIM WEDDINGS

GLASTONBURY TWO

It has been decided that next summers pilgrimage will be to Glastonbury. As we did in 1978 we are planning to go from Arundel, via Hayling Island, the Isle of Wight, the New Forest, and Salisbury. The dates will probably be Saturday 10th August to Sunday 25th August 1991. Not much more to tell you about it at the present time.

Condolences to John Wheeler whose mother Elsie died on 21st August 1990. May she live forever in the glory of God's presence.

See you at the Reunion in Battle, and do send in lots of news for the January newsletter, which will be circulated with the literature for the Glastonbury Pilgrimage.
