After Mass at Ss Michael & George, we set out. The first part of the walk was through the Landslip Nature Reserve - where the cliff has dramatically slipped towards the sea.
Then, over the golf course and down to cross the river Axe.
For the lucky ones, a view of the Seaton tramway
before we walked into Seaton. We lunched at the Beach Tavern, a big pub, where Pat was happy to find a pool table.
After lunch, a climb (what else?) and a view back over Seaton
The route took us over Beer Head (the most westerly chalk cliff in England) and more ups and downs, until in the early evening we reached Salcombe Regis and the Church of St Mary & St Peter. For some, mentioning no Julians, it was too much!
But some had the energy to chat to the Vicar. (I recall an amazing collection of embroidered kneelers)
Our final climb of the day was over Soldiers Hill, where we got this glimpse over Sidmouth of High Peak and beyond, but that's tomorrow's challenge.
As we approached our destination, there was a profusion of kissing gates, with resulting delays for pilgrims
But we did reach Sidmouth Community College.
