After a later rise (some might even describe it as a lie-in), breakfast was followed by the ceremonious task of washing up; some helpful, but slightly foolish pilgrims agree to wash up everybody's crockery who comes along, and spend a long time at the sink: in this case Jonny.
Next we packed up the van, and a group of volunteers got the task done in good time, although Sue looks like she's dancing rather than packing.
Mass followed, where we were joined in celebration by Rev John Crowe, who is walking with us as far as Southwell. The Mass was ended with much gusto and a cheery rendition of Bind us Together.
We started off today's walk through the celebrity country of Cheshire and the back roads of Knutsford.
Just out of the town we passed through a wood, where the front markers chose an "interesting" route through. (No, they didn't get lost?)
Which was slightly worrying when this sign showed up on one of the trees.
Passing across the fields, we came across a blackberry bush, where Aruna and Mary enjoyed a tasty selection.
And so on to the lunch pub, The Egerton Arms in Chelford. We were unable to eat our rolls here so many people enjoyed pub food.
No, it isnt the start of the limbo competition. Mary's already enough of a live wire to need help from electric fences.
On to St Mary's, Nether Alderly, where Francis talked about Thanksgiving, the American festival which celebrates the surviving of the first winter by the Pilgrim Fathers, and similar festivals.
The Rector of the church told us of its history and how the Stanley family were involved with the running of the church and estate.
We set off along the cobbled road across country, as the peaks drew near and a few hills started to roll before us.
The first steep descent involved a very muddy and slippery stone track, with only barbed wire on each side to hold onto. Pilgrims warily made their way done the track and only a few managed without muddy backsides.
The last church stop of the day, was given by Milly, who described how joy and sadness go hand in hand in her life, and spoke deeply from her own personal experiences.
So finally the end of the day and a rest day to come. Relief for all aching muscles and sore feet. A chance to regain strength before the challenges ahead.
