Over two-thirds complete we enjoy our second rest day. No doubt for some Wadworth's Northgate Brewery will feature, but Devizes caters for other tastes too.
The rest day started with mass at St Joseph's Catholic Church...
...where Helen sang a solo for the kyrie.
Peter Whipps, who joined us last night, collects his Pilgrim cross.
We had a new addition to the music section with Sarah on her Saxophone.
Our accomodation for the rest day was right next door to Wadworth's Brewery...
...did Maurice book the school?
There are some interesting buildings in Devizes...
...including the marketplace which housed a pub or two.
Dannie, who was leaving today, decided to give Chris a new hair-do.
Being a rest day, some pilgrims went swimming, while others decided to wander around the town to look at the religious buildings within the town.
Men do actually do the washing you know...
...although they can also spend time to read the paper while the women do the work.
Again, more interesting buildings throughout the town.
Being so close to the brewery, a guided tour was organised by Maurice (who else?)...
...where there was a great range of beers on offer.
Safety first - hi vis jackets - should pilgrims wear them at all times?
Lecture in brewing
Shire horses
Learning about pub signs
Maurice finally gets to sample the real ale.
Althea obviously enjoyed her cream cake as much, if not more, than Maurice did his beer.
Meanwhile, back at the hall, the "Grumpy Old Men" relieved Aruna of her sandwich making duties for the day...
...while others caught up with all that was happening in the world...
...or relaxed with a crossword and a cup of tea.
Some bars across the school corridors made a good drying line.
Martyn and Patrick sleep it off in the afternoon - you're lucky I didn't record the snoring.
We had another "communal take-away" evening followed by music. Michael and Joyce seem happy with their choice.
Nobody believed we'd eat all of ours - but we did (and more!)
Chris and Godwin join Jack and his friend for "I'm the king of the swingers"
"Father Abraham" makes fools of us all.
Bill and friend scrounge drinks.
It's best to ignore him as Bernie and Peter did.
The butterfly song
Chris is getting in the mood for tomorrow's birthday.
The "Grumpy Old Men" do percussion.
