Today is our shortest day for several years, but it incorporates a bit of everything. A shady valley walk to start, then a lakeside stroll, followed by quiet lanes to Grasmere. We pass Wordworth's Dove Cottage (with tea rooms). Grasmere is a busy village, and there are various places to find lunch, before we reconvene for the afternoon walk, a rugged walk over the fells involving a steady climb followed by a moderately steep descent into Chapel Stile - if you have walking poles, bring them!
