Our penultimate walking day is our longest, but at 17.5 miles that is a short longest day compared to most of our previous pilgrimages! Most of the day is fairly flat, until we cross the M20 and climb to join the North Downs Way (NDW) (which is also the Pilgrims Way) near Dunn Street. We follow the NDW as it starts to drop down into the valley of the Stour, then leave it, turning left to climb towards Challock. Before we reach the village we pause to pray at the Church of Ss Cosmas and Damian which is in a magnificent setting high on the downs, albeit surrounded by trees.
