The Bath Pilgrimage 1986

Day 2: Henfield to Billingshurst

Leaving Henfield Village Hall.

First stop is prayers at St Peter's...

...closely followed by mass at Corpus Christi catholic church.

Eileen Mahony, a stalwart of early pilgrimages, met us with the parish priest.

A local gives us directions as we leave their parish hall.

Along the banks of the River Adur.

Over the river by a convenient bridge.

No Maurice, this is Ashurst, it's not lunch time yet!

Across the stubble fo fields already harvested...

...and into Ashington...

...this IS lunch.

Brenda rests her feet.

Post-prandial prayers at Ss Peter and Paul, Ashington.

Fee talks to a horse by the path.

Shipley windmill...

...but it's the church we're heading for.

Next stop is the Blue Idol Friends Meeting House.

Bill too likes photos of trains, this one near Billingshurst.

We enter Billingshurst through new housing...

...and we're staying in the modern parish hall at St Gabriel's.
