Bill promised us "A less interesting walk. the route follows the flat coast line for the whole day, but for a large part the sea view is hidden by houses".
Via Bexhill, Normans Bay and Pevensey (where we had Benediction at Holy Rood Church), to Eastbourne, where we did Ring-a-Ring-of-Roses by the pier. It seemed like a good idea! Carrying on, we arrived at Our Lady of Ransom Church Hall in Eastbourne. This venue is memorable (at least to the younger pilgrims) for the ladies of the parish who prepared our supper, all the while wearing their hats! To pilgrims well used now to sharing accommodation, such formality seemed wholly incongruous!
