So, after three tough days, a good night's sleep was had by several if not all, and we were up and ready for the off on our longest day (rest day tomorrow!). Off from the school and down in to the town...
Prayers at the parish church
led by Terry
then down through the churchyard
to the river and over the bridge.
Then, it had to be, up away from the town, sun beating on our backs.
Then down again into the Chatsworth estate, and Edensor Church.
Where Keith led our prayers and reflection.
On through Chatsworth Park - challenging for front markers as we weren't allowed to pin arrows to anything living.
Out from the park to Baslow - a chance for a sup of tea and a cake
or a pint of beer
Then - up, up and up to Baslow Edge and a welcome drink stop.
Then on up to Curbar Edge and then Frogatt Edge. Pilgrims walked to the edge to take the stunning view.
And so to lunch at the Grouse Inn. We weren't allowed to eat sandwiches in the pub grounds, so some sat on the verge!
Clare, a pilgrim from the past, lives and works locally and came out to meet us in her lunchbreak.
Up again after lunch - steps provided.
And then down again (at speed) towards Sheffield.
Our afternoon prayer stop was at Totley and Dore URC, where we were made most welcome.
And then, a further 7 miles into Sheffield. Several pilgrims took public transport (some had done so from lunchtime), but a core continued. It was a particularly wooded route through the parks of Sheffield on the "Sheffield Round Walk" in fading light before we descended through the streets to the centre of the city then a final climb up to All Saints School. What a relief!
And now - showered, changed, fed, we're sitting around in the coffee bar, with a drink for a chat or whatever. A day off for the feet tomorrow.
