The Lindisfarne Pilgrimage 1984

Day 13: Cambo to Rothbury

Not the longest day, but one of the remotest - well we are getting out into the wilds here - as evidenced by no church stops on the schedule, but prayers planned for the high spots of the day.

Despite not featuring in the plan, we clearly visited Cambo church before we left the village.

Bill's Boozer was not a pub! Without a village in sight, there was no hostelry to welcome us for lunch. So Bill planned a stopping place accessible by van, and our support team joined us with an array of beverages. Three cheers for that! As ever, Mike entered into the spirit of "mine host" with tray and apron.

Fed, watered and prayed we set out again, across some wild and wonderful countryside.

In due course we reached Simonside Crag - today's high point, with a great view across the moorland.

You just have to stop and enjoy these views.

Anyway, after the ups and downs, the downs won and we dropped into Rothbury, a small town where our hosts had arranged a social evening for us.
